EB Survivors Writing Contest 2010
Sponsored by National Rehab
Our goal with this contest is to compile and publish a book to help raise awareness about people surviving with EB. During the editing process, we plan to involve you, the writer, and allow you to consider any changes we may have made, but we reserve the right to not involve you, so that we can publish in a timely way. We really appreciate your entry because it can help others who live with EB, and also help people who don’t to understand it better. For writing ideas, please visit http://ebfriends.ning.com and search the main forum for the discussion titled “EB Survivors Writing Contest 2010.”

Directions:
  1. Write a creative short story, true or based on a true experience unique to EB. It doesn’t have to be directly about EB, you don’t need to explain EB, or try to explain to someone what it is clinically. Try to recreate an experience when having EB has put a different element to an ordinary situation. Bring your reader into your world. Help them see through your eyes and live in your skin for a moment. Though EB is not a desirable reality, we can’t ignore the unique ways that it helps us learn about living. Don’t let your EB experience go to waste. Don’t let your pain be for nothing. If we learn from it, so can others.
  2. Please limit your writing to ten pages single spaced.
  3. You may enter more than one writing/story, and they will be considered equally for the winning prize. We may publish more than one of your writings.
  4. You may email your story to ebsurvivors@gmail.com and title the email “Contest.” To qualify, you must also mail a completed and signed entry form to

    USEB
    512 Hillside Circle

  6. This contest is open only to people diagnosed with EB, all ages. We may divide the contestants into two groups and offer a separate prize for the younger age group if we find adequate sponsorship.
